Oil Change Services in Dallas, TX

Schedule your oil change service now.

One of the best things you can do for your car or truck is to make sure the oil and oil filter are changed regularly. A car oil change is easy, inexpensive, and the effect on the vehicle is huge! Driver neglect is a frequent cause of many auto repairs. Don’t let this be true for your car. Schedule your vehicle oil and filter changes on a regular basis to avoid expensive, time-consuming engine repairs later.

A vehicle’s engine is made up of many moving parts that constantly interact with each other. It cannot run without lubrication and a way of cooling the system down. Regular oil changes accomplish both of those goals. Oil is the lubrication to keep the parts from grinding against each other and it also carries the heat caused by this action away from the engine.

Driver’s Edge Complete Tire & Auto Service offers a complete oil, lube, and filter change service. We will help you set up a schedule for your regular oil changes. We hire ASE-certified auto mechanics with the knowledge and experience to do the job right the first time!

Four Critical Things Clean Oil Does for Your Vehicle’s Engine

Your engine cannot run without clean motor oil. Here are the four critical things oil does for your vehicle’s engine:Oil change

  1. Cleans the engine: The oil absorbs debris and other contaminants as it moves through the engine; this prevents buildup or blockages.
  2. Reduces friction which prevents excess engine wear: All metal components within the engine are protected by a lubricating layer from the oil.
  3. Removes and redistributes excess heat: The engine oil safely absorbs any excess heat from the engine and redistributes it, preventing the engine from overheating.
  4. Keeps the engine rust and corrosion-free: The protective layer formed by the oil keeps the engine components free from rust and corrosion.

Our expert oil change mechanics at our Driver’s Edge auto repair Dallas will help you choose the best type of oil and the oil change schedule for your vehicle.

What’s the Best Oil for Your Car

Factors that determine the best oil for your engine are the make and model of the car, mileage on the car, and your driving habits. These are factors that determine what type of oil is best for your engine:

  • Conventional Oil: Most commonly used oil; least expensive.
  • High-Mileage Engine Oil: For high-mileage vehicles.
  • Synthetic Motor Oil: Better for the environment; more expensive.
  • Synthetic Blend Motor Oil: Blend of conventional and synthetic.

Our ASE-certified oil change mechanic can help you determine what oil is best for your vehicle and answer any questions you may have.

Regular Oil Changes Mean a Minimum of Every 3,000 Miles Between Oil Changes

Auto experts use a standard guideline for the frequency of oil changes: Every 3,000 miles or three months, whichever comes first.

You can’t go wrong following that advice, since it’s impossible to get the oil changed too often. But your car might not need oil changes every 3,000 miles; check your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s recommendation. Newer cars today often call for a full synthetic oil change at around every 7,500 miles, which cuts down on costs for you.

Some of the factors that determine the frequency of oil changes are:

  • The recommendations in your owner’s manualclose up of car oil being poured
  • The age of your car
  • Your driving needs (towing and hauling)
  • Hot or cold climate
  • Type of oil being used
  • Many short or long trips

If you are still in doubt, discuss this with a Driver’s Edge oil change specialist. They can guide you and also set up a schedule of oil change appointments.

What type of oil you use in your car does matter. We use only the highest-quality Valvoline products to protect your car or truck:

  • Valvoline Premium Conventional synthetic blend for extra protection in severe driving conditions
  • Valvoline Synthetic Blend cleans and protects high-mileage engines
  • Valvoline Full Synthetic Oil is clean and clear, with fewer impurities than crude oil

During your Driver’s Edge oil change service, our ASE-certified mechanics will also visually inspect all the other major systems of your vehicle. If they can identify a small problem now, it will save you time, money, and dangerous breakdowns later. Our first goal is always to keep you on the road in a vehicle that is safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s important to follow the recommended oil change service schedule for your vehicle. Motor oil works to keep your engine clean, lubricate thousands of internal components as the oil moves through the engine, and prevent the engine from overheating by absorbing the heat caused by friction.

Over time, as the oil circulates through your engine it absorbs debris and dirt, which is great for your engine but makes the oil less able to do its job over time. If the dirty oil is not changed regularly, excessive sludge can build up and cause enough damage to lead to complete engine failure.

Because of motor oil’s heat-absorbing properties, another issue is trying to run your engine with low oil levels. Without regular oil change services, your oil level may become low without you knowing it. When your engine tries to run without a sufficient amount of lubrication, components can get hot very quickly. All of the metal parts start rubbing together directly, causing an unsustainable amount of heat and wearing the parts down prematurely. This will quickly result in your engine seizing up and failing.

Keeping up with a regular car oil change schedule will save you thousands of dollars in a new engine. Getting an oil change service done is one of the least expensive and least time-consuming services there is, yet one of the most important when it comes to the life of your vehicle.

If you have not been following a regular oil change schedule and are wondering if your oil needs to be replaced, there are a couple of ways to determine if it is time for an oil change service. These include:

  • A “Check Engine” or “Low Oil” light is illuminated on your vehicle’s instrument panel.
  • When checking your oil with the dipstick, the oil level is indicated as being low.
  • The oil feels gritty between your fingers, comes out in globs, or is milky-looking when you check your engine’s oil dipstick.
  • Your engine is running louder than normal.

The best bet is to follow the manufacturer’s recommended oil change schedule for your vehicle. Whenever you get an oil change done at a service center, a sticker will be placed on the inside of your windshield to help remind you when you are due for your next oil change based on the recommended mileage or time interval.

The first place to start is to check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for recommendations. Some newer vehicles have electronic oil monitors and do not have a traditional dipstick. If your vehicle is not equipped with electronic oil monitoring, manually checking the oil level is easier than you may think. Just follow these steps:

  • After your engine is warm, park on level ground, and turn off the engine.
  • Wait a few minutes to let the oil settle.
  • Open the engine hood and locate the oil dipstick. It will usually have a yellow or orange pull ring.
  • Pull the dipstick out from the engine and wipe the oil off the end of it with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the dipstick back into its tube, making sure to push it all the way back in.
  • Pull the dipstick back out and look at the oil at the tip, comparing it to the markings that indicate the engine oil level.

Every dipstick has some indication of the proper oil level, such as the letters “L” and “H” (low and high), the words “MIN” and “MAX”, two pinholes, or an area of cross-hatching. If you see that the oil on the dipstick is below the minimum line, you need to add oil. Only add a small amount at a time. Overfilling the engine with too much oil can cause problems as well.

If your oil appears to have bits of debris in it or comes out in globs, it’s time to schedule an appointment for a complete oil change service, including a new oil filter.

Your engine’s oil filter is an essential part of keeping the oil cleaner longer. As the oil circulates through the engine it picks up dirt and debris, which is filtered out as the oil flows through the oil filter. But, the filter will reach a point where it won’t be able to absorb any more particles. This means the oil, whether it is new or old, will be flowing through the engine without any filtration.

Changing the oil filter along with your oil at every oil change service means that your new, clean oil can work optimally and stay clean longer.

Your vehicle’s owner’s manual will provide the manufacturer’s recommendation minimum oil specification. The manual may also include recommendations for different types of oil based on certain driving conditions or climates.

Different types of oil all have different viscosities and performance in protecting your engine. Whether it is conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic. Most newer vehicles require a full synthetic motor oil for optimum performance, but not always. Some vehicles require synthetic blend or standard conventional oil. While high mileage motor oil provides added protection for vehicles with 75,000 miles or more.

It may be a good idea to upgrade to a higher quality motor oil to get optimum performance out of your engine. Our ASE-certified technicians here at Driver’s Edge can help you determine the best type of oil for your vehicle.

Schedule your appointment today for an oil change service and make sure your engine can run at its best.

Unlike conventional oils consisting of strictly natural mineral oil with no additives, high mileage motor oils are specifically formulated to run in engines with more than 75,000 – 100,000 miles on the odometer. No matter the brand, this type of oil is going to either be a chemically engineered synthetic blend or full synthetic oil.

High mileage oil is specifically engineered to include additives that are for engines that have seen quite a bit of use and wear to help the engine continue to run at its best. The additives include:

  • Seal conditioners: These conditioners help to rejuvenate and swell gaskets and seals back to their original shape and size. Helping to prevent oil leaks and maintain oil pressure.
  • Specialized detergents: The detergents help to combat carbon and sludge buildup on internal engine components.
  • Viscosity modifiers: As engines age, the space between components gets larger and oil has a hard time sufficiently lubricating critical parts of the engine. These viscosity modifiers keep the oil thicker to ensure proper lubrication throughout the engine.
  • Friction modifiers: Like the viscosity modifiers, these modifiers help compensate for the looser internal tolerances between the moving parts. They also work to help the oil absorb more heat caused by friction.
  • Anti-corrosion agents: These agents help maintain engine components as long as possible and prevent extended corrosion and rust.

Is your vehicle reaching higher mileage and could benefit from the specialized protection of high mileage oil? Schedule your appointment today for an oil change service with the ASE-certified mechanics at Driver’s Edge.

Do you need an oil change service in or around Dallas, TX? If you do, it’s important to remember that some oil changes are better than others—and the best oil changes go well beyond removing your old motor oil and replacing it with new oil.

When you’re overdue for an oil change, you should be on the lookout for a local auto repair shop that offers full-service oil changes. Of course, full-service oil changes are quite different from your average oil change, as your car will benefit from additional maintenance tasks, such as:

  • Oil filter replacement
  • Vehicle chassis lubrication
  • Multi-point vehicle inspection
  • Tire rotation (if requested at the time of service)

The best place in Dallas to get a full-service oil change is Driver’s Edge Complete Tire & Auto Service. When you choose our ASE-certified mechanics to handle this job, your car will get the most in-depth oil change possible. If you’d like to find out why we’ve been the Dallas/Fort Worth area’s top choice for auto service for over a decade, set up your oil change appointment today!

Whether you get a simple or full-service oil change service, you might not notice any changes to your vehicle’s performance right away. Compared with some automotive services (such as transmission and brake repair), oil changes typically improve your car’s performance in less obvious ways. But since your vehicle wouldn’t be able to run correctly without clean oil, you shouldn’t neglect its oil change needs.

With that out of the way, you might still spot some enhancements to your car’s performance after you get an oil change. For example, it’s relatively easy to notice better fuel economy in your vehicle after getting an oil change. Other notable perks associated with oil changes include improved engine efficiency and acceleration.

The most important benefits of an oil change are those you won’t think about, such as engine lubrication and temperature control. To get an oil change that delivers all these benefits and more, stop by your nearest Dallas-Fort Worth auto shop location for an oil change service!

If you’re looking for an oil change service in Dallas, there’s a strong chance that your number-one priority is saving as much as possible. That’s certainly understandable—auto maintenance can be expensive, after all.

The good news is that oil changes are among the least pricey car care jobs out there. When handled by a reputable auto shop, an oil change will cost a fraction of the price of a full-fledged auto repair. Because of that, you can afford to consider factors other than the bottom line when shopping for an oil change in Dallas. Instead, it’s wise to look for local car repair shops offering full-service oil changes handled by ASE-certified mechanics.

Knowing how much you can expect to pay for an oil change (or any other automotive service) before work begins is also a good idea. Does your auto repair shop of choice offer quotes for oil changes and other tasks? If they do, you’ll have the opportunity to consider their quoted price and explore other options before making a commitment. On the other hand, some auto shops aren’t willing to provide quotes—and sometimes, that means they’re trying to hide high prices.

When you need an affordable oil change in the Dallas area, it’s always a good idea to reach out to the team at Driver’s Edge. As the most reputable auto shop in Texas, we’re perfectly willing to provide you with a quote for your oil change. But you won’t just benefit from our low rates—you’ll also be able to save even more with our online coupons!
